For nearly three decades, Leclerc’s Martial Arts stood as a pillar of excellence in martial arts education and a beacon of leadership within the community. Founded on the belief that martial arts should build strong character as well as physical skill, Leclerc’s Martial Arts developed a training system that was adopted by over 20 schools worldwide. This system produced an extraordinary number of proficient black belts and career martial artists, setting an industry standard for student success, instructor development, and long-term retention.
The influence of Leclerc’s Martial Arts extended far beyond the training floor. For more than 30 years, the school dedicated itself to serving others—organizing fundraisers for families battling cancer, supporting veterans in need, adopting families during the holidays, and providing financial assistance to children and families who otherwise could not afford martial arts training. Through these efforts, hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised and donated, changing lives and strengthening the community.
In Dutchess County, Leclerc’s Martial Arts was recognized as a positive and constant presence. The school proudly supported community events including Fourth of July and Memorial Day parades, fall festivals, and the Children’s Expo. Public demonstrations at these events reflected the school’s deeper mission: to develop confident, disciplined leaders who would positively impact the world around them.
Leclerc’s Martial Arts also elevated competitive martial arts in the region by sponsoring and hosting high-level tournaments supported by businesses throughout the Hudson Valley. The creation of a six-tournament circuit provided fair, structured competition for students of Leclerc’s Martial Arts and members of the International Tang Soo Do Practitioners Association, as well as other competitors from the United States and Canada.
On an international scale, Leclerc’s Martial Arts and Robert P. Leclerc, Sr. left a lasting global footprint. Through clinics conducted across Europe in fighting, forms, and weapons, students were trained and promoted to black belt and advanced ranks. Robert P. Leclerc, Sr. was widely respected for his commitment to unity, camaraderie, and mutual respect among practitioners of Tang Soo Do and other martial arts disciplines.
From 1996 to 2025, Leclerc’s Martial Arts shaped generations of students, instructors, and leaders. Its legacy lives on through the lives it touched, the values it instilled, and the global martial arts community it helped unite. This legacy stands as a testament to the belief that true martial arts is not measured only by skill—but by service, character, and the lasting impact left on others.
